Texas reality TV fans may have heard the rumor that Kordell Stewart locked his wife Porsha Williams out of the home they shared during their marriage after he filed divorce papers. He has since insisted that he did not lock her out, but “for security purposes” the doors were locked. Either way, in a hearing in divorce court, a judge ruled that Williams had to move out of the home.
As it turns out, the home is in Stewart’s name. He was ordered to help her find another place to live. He was also ordered to pay her $5,000 a month for approximately three months as spousal support. Stewart had asked the court not to order spousal support saying that Williams was capable of making her own money.
This may be true since Williams is one of the stars of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” a reality television show. It is not yet known why Stewart filed for divorce. According to reports, the news came as a shock to Williams.
As it stands now, the couple may not be able to work out the terms of their divorce without the court’s assistance. Not being able to come to an agreement on their own could potentially cost both parties precious time and money. More often than not, Texas couples will come to the conclusion that it is easier and more cost effective to put aside their feelings for one another in order to have control over how the parties’ post-divorce lives will look. Many couples can attest to the fact that dragging each other into court rarely ends with both parties being satisfied with the outcome.
